Prayer for Lent

During this season of Lent,
let us remember all that you have done for us.
Help us to reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice and pain that you went through for us.
As we make a few of our own sacrifices,
help us to stay strong and committed to this
Lenten journey and use our efforts as an opportunity
to deepen our relationship with you.
In moments where we struggle, remind us of the
incomparable sacrifice and struggles that you endured.
Guide our hearts and minds to stay focused
on your love and glory.

In Jesus name we pray
Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

IMPORTANT Kindy Enrolments 2026 & 2027: If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in 2026 or 2027, now is the time to secure their place!  Enrolments are filling up quickly, so we encourage all families to contact the school office and complete the necessary enrolment forms as soon as possible.  Don’t miss out – plan ahead for your child’s exciting start to school!

Parish Mass:  Our parish community were thrilled to have our Year 6 students actively participate in the recent Parish Mass last Wednesday.  Their leadership, reverence and confidence, were evident as they participated along with the parishioners.  It was wonderful to see them embracing their faith and demonstrating their commitment to our school’s values.

Whole School Prayer: Equally inspiring was our Year 4 cohort, who led the Whole School Prayer last Monday with great enthusiasm and sincerity.  Their thoughtful reflections and beautiful prayers created a meaningful experience for all who attended.  Their ability to engage the school in prayerful reflection is a testament to their growing spiritual awareness and sense of community.

MSP Promotional Photos: Adding to these memorable moments, our school photographer, MSP, captured stunning promotional images that highlight the vibrant and faith-filled spirit of our students.  These phots will serve as a wonderful reflection of our school’s rich culture and the strong sense of belonging that makes our community so special.

K-6 Parent interviews: Our Kindy to Year 6 parents have been meeting with their children’s teachers providing valuable insights into their progress so far this year.  Parent interviews are almost completed, fostering meaningful discussions between teachers and families, to support student learning and growth.

Music Performance Assembly:  The recent Music Performance Assembly was a true showcase of our students’ incredible talents.  Their enthusiasm and dedication shone brightly, creating a joyful and entertaining experience for all in attendance.  Well done to all performers and our dedicated music tutors for their hard work!

Main Roads Update:  The garrison fencing running along the freeway has all been completed and the Principal Shared Pathway (PSP) is now open to the public.  Main Roads have completed the landscaping to enhance the environment, creating a welcoming and visually appealing space for all. The mural project, which our students were instrumental in designing, with the artist Paula Hart, is still to be completed by the artist and her team on the wall on the freeway side of the PSP.  I will keep the community informed once it has begun so you can keep an eye on the progress when driving past.

Interschool Swimming Carnival: Looking ahead, excitement has been  building for the Interschool Swimming Carnival being held today, Friday 4 April.  Following on from our School Swimming Carnival, our swimmers have been training diligently, and we wish them all the bet as they represent our school with skill and sportsmanship.

P&F Easter Raffle: Our School Easter Raffle was once again a huge success! There were 94 fantastic prizes up for grabs, and we had many smiling faces during the raffle draw today.

We extend our gratitude to all students, staff, and families who contribute to these special events.  Your support and involvement continue to make our school a place of faith, learning, and togetherness.

Term 2, Winter Uniform:   As we approach Term 2, we’d like to remind you that students will be transitioning to their winter uniforms. It’s important that all students are fully kitted out in the correct uniform, purchased from the uniform shop,  so they can look their best and stay warm as the weather cools down.

Please take the time to check that your child has everything they need, and if any items require replacing, now is a great time to organize them.

Thank you for your support in maintaining our school’s high uniform standards.

CLASSROOM NEWS

PHYSICAL EDUCATION - TERM ONE

Physical Education and class sport is underway in 2025 with lots of exciting things having already taken place in Term One. Ride to school day was awesome this year with lots of participants choosing active travel for the day. Our ‘Slow Bike Race’ was a hit and something we will be looking to do again in the future. The school swimming carnival for Year 4-6 students was one of the highlights with some outstanding individual performances and terrific teamwork on show.

During Physical Education lessons, Year 5 & 6 students have enjoyed the benefit of having 4 weeks with guest coaches from WA Rugby. Students commented that they enjoyed learning a new sport and the challenge of only being able to pass backwards during the Tri-Tag Rugby games. Despite combatting the heat, they played lots of games and experienced playing with different people each week.

Meanwhile, Year 3 & 4 students took to the tennis court to start the year. Students have adapted their movements through games like Catching Tennis, Racquet Trap Tennis and what turned into a Year 4 favourite, Beach Ball Tennis. It has been a great opportunity for students to discover strategies that work in Net & Wall sports and how to follow rules to keep score during the games.

Our Pre-Primary, Year 1 and Year 2 students have been utilizing the shade to practice their fundamental movement skills. The Pre-Primary students have tried a variety of balance and jumping challenges, while the Year 1 and 2 students have built on these skills as well as developing underarm and overarm throwing techniques.

CANTEEN NEWS

What a very busy term it has been for us.  We have sold hundreds of frozen cubes over the lunch time service due to the very hot days we have had.  A very big thank you to our wonderful students and staff that help us with the lunch time serving.

We really appreciate you giving up your time to help us.

As the end of term is fast approaching, could any families that have received a note home, please pay the outstanding amounts to the canteen please.  This can be done through the canteen, at the office or by a normal lunch order on line, noting in the comments that it is for an IOU only.   Thank you.

There may be a few items that are in short supply for the last week of term, but most of the daily items will still be readily available.

We hope that you have a safe and happy Easter and school holidays.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY VOLUNTEERS

We're seeking parent volunteers to join our All Saints Greenwood parish children’s liturgy team! We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you—please text Bianca at 0418 986 893 to sign up!

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

TUESDAY 1ST APRIL

This week at 24:7 Greenwood, we had an amazing Games Night filled with fellowship, fun, and friendly competition! The evening kicked off with card games and dodgeball, setting the stage for an exciting night ahead.

Our first game, Reverse Charades, brought plenty of laughter, followed by a crowd favorite—Bopper—and the engaging Sheet Drop Name Game. To wrap things up, we put our musical knowledge to the test with a thrilling round of Guess the Song, keeping everyone on their toes until the very end!

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

Next week, we will be hosting our Encounter Night to conclude our term theme of Lent. This special evening will take place in the Church, creating a powerful and reflective atmosphere where we can draw closer to God.

Together, we will take time to not only reflect on our term theme of Lent but also on the season of Lent itself, as we prepare our hearts for Easter. This will be a meaningful opportunity to encounter God’s presence and deepen our faith.
