From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Thank you for the important role you play, especially in our current climate,  to ensure that partnerships with all community members have been established to strengthen the links between school and home.

Can you believe that we are over halfway through the term already! To acknowledge the beginning of Lent, our students attended the Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday 17 February and once again, they displayed wonderful reverence throughout Mass and were commended by Fr Elver for their respectful behaviour. During this special Lenten season it would be terrific if families could have ongoing discussion about the significance of Lent and engage in prayer together; look at the possibility of each family member giving up something they enjoy doing or like eating, out of love for Jesus for the ultimate sacrifice He made for us; and engage in almsgiving eg acts of kindness, donating clothes or unused toys to charity and putting aside loose change to donate to Project Compassion.  Through prayer, fasting and almsgiving we strengthen our relationship with Christ and one another.

The spiritual, educational, social,emotional and physical development of our students is important to us at Liwara and one way in which we foster this is by learning about and promoting our School and Gospel Values.  Our policies, procedures and daily teaching are underpinned by these values and are rooted in the teachings of Christ.  They promote in students a spirit of Christian service and foster in them an understanding of the responsibilities they have to the common good of our wider society. Each term the students have a value to focus on and learn about.  In Term One our Value focus is TRUST - Term Two RESPECT – Term Three MERCY – Term Four FAITH.

We met as a new Advisory Council (formerly known as the School Board) on the 16 February where members were engaged in discussion and planning for the 2021 school year.  Through partnerships and by enabling the coming together of various people with a range of gifts and talents working alongside the school, we become a stronger community and are more effective within the religious dimension, individual identity and educational  charter.

Our first Parents & Friends Zoom meeting was held on 15 February and it was wonderful to hear about the many events the committee are planning to run again this year.  The Liwara P&F have always been a strong group with outstanding commitment to the goals and aspirations of the school.  They work effectively and collaboratively with the school to achieve set objectives each year. Where harmonious relationships and partnerships exist, the benefits are many for our children’s development.

KINDY 2022  ENROLMENTS

If you have a child born between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018, they will be eligible for Kindy 2022.  If you haven’t already handed in your Enrolment Application Forms for your child, please do so as soon as possible.  The forms can be downloaded from the school website.  If you have any friends or neighbours in this age group, please advise them that we will be interviewing soon and that we would love to have them join our Liwara Community.
