Please find a list of our student wellbeing programs provided throughout the school.
GROW YOUR MIND ( YEAR 6)
Grow Your Mind is built upon four pillars to promote mental health & wellbeing:
- Positive Psychology - the study of the strengths that contribute to individual and community thriving and wellbeing
- Social and Emotional Learning - the study of how individuals acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours needed to develop the skills for self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
- Public Health - the study of the prevention of illness and promotion of health

FUN FRIENDS
An early intervention and prevention of anxiety and depression as well as a focus on social skills. For more information click on the link: FunFriends
URSTRONG FRIENDOLOGY
A friendship program that inspires children to feel empowered, develop a strong sense of self and love themselves while learning to manage the most important thing to them….their friendships. To find out more information please click on the link: UrStrong Friendology 101
SEASONS FOR GROWTH
A loss and grief peer support group offered at various year levels depending on need. For more information click on the link: Seasons for Growth
PEACEFUL KIDS
Peaceful Kids is a Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based program to lessen anxiety and stress and increase resilience in children. The program gives children the skills, practice and support to utilise coping strategies that lessen the symptoms of anxiety and stress. This program helps children to build their emotional resilience so they are better equipped to deal with the day to day stresses that life brings them. The program also involves parental involvement and commitment to supporting the strategies at home. Small groups of up to 6 students are involved in the 8 week program (shorter for the younger years). For more information click on the link: peacefulkids.com.au
CLASSROOM HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Teachers use the Western Australian Curriculum to guide Health lessons centered around self-care, self-esteem and self-awareness. Students are also involved in personalised classroom practices that promote and teach positive well-being.
BUDDIES
Liwara has a whole school approach to assisting students to develop personal connections with students in other year levels. Students participate in activities and Liturgical celebrations together with their buddies.
KEEPING SAFE CHILD PROTECTION CURRICULUM
The Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum teaches all children from a young age to 1. Recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult; 2. Understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching and; 3. Understand ways of keeping themselves safe.
BEHAVIOUR FRAMEWORK
A whole school approach to ‘Levels of Behaviour’ is a positive, student generated behaviour system, which develops better social, emotional and academic outcomes for students.
SENSORY ROOM, GARDEN AND PROGRAM
A room designed to meet the sensory needs of students where required. Sensory tools are available to be used under the guidance of an adult and can be utilised within the classroom where appropriate. Liwara also has a Sensory Garden and a before school Sensory Program is also run for students with needs.
LUNCH BUNCH
A lunch time program for selected students to build upon their social skills and develop friendships. Lunchtime activities such as arts and crafts are facilitated by teaching staff.
