Prayer for Children's Friendships
Lord, protect our children from negative influences that would lead them away from you. Surround them with friendships and mentor-type relationships that portray what it means to live a Christ-centered life. Allow godliness and righteousness to guide their thoughts and actions. May our children be friends that build others up, friends that influence their peers for good. Help our children to be a light in the dark world and to be encouraged by friends who will stand with them.
Amen

Dear Parents and Caregivers
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
On Thursday, 15 August we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption by joining in with the parishioners at morning Mass. It is a day dedicated to honouring the Virgin Mary. It was a time for reflection prayer and community and it was wonderful to come together in celebration of this important feast day in our church calendar.

RUNNING CLUB
Our running club has been making great strides! Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just wanting to join in, everyone is welcome and it’s a pity that some mornings it is just not dry enough to get those steps in! Thank you to all our active community members who regularly attend….. it’s a great way to start the day!
BOOK WEEK
Book Week is just around the corner and this year’s theme is ‘Reading is Magic’. Our annual Book Week Parade will take place on Tuesday 20 August at 9:00am. It is always a delightful event filled with creativity and fun and we look forward to seeing all the amazing outfits and celebrating our love of reading together.
RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS EFFORTS
I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the incredible effort our students have been putting into their work. Whether it is in the classroom, during sports, or in creative projects, their dedication and hard work have been truly inspiring. Let’s continue to support and encourage them as they strive to achieve their best. Keep up the great work, everyone!
P & F QUIZ NIGHT & DEDICATION
We are thrilled to celebrate the success of our recent P&F Quiz Night fundraiser! A huge thank you to all the parents and friends who gathered on the night filled with fun, laughter and a bit of friendly competition. Your enthusiasm and participation made the event a memorable one, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who continue to be actively involved in our community. Your dedication and involvement are truly the backbone of our efforts, and it’s because of you that our P&F can organise such wonderful events.
Together, we’ve shown what a strong and vibrant community we are. Here’s to the last 50 years and to many more successful events in the future!
50th ANNIVERSARY UPDATE:
FORMAL LITURGY & ASSEMBLY:
A reminder to RSVP to our invitation for our 50th Year Anniversary Celebration – “ 50 Years of tradition, 50 Years of Dedication, Your Dreams, Our Foundation!” on Thursday 5 September, starting at 9:30am in the Liwara School Hall using the link 50@liwara.wa.edu.au - We look forward to celebrating with our past and present community!
FAMILY CONNECTIONS:
We are creating a 'Liwara Family Tree' display for the 50th Anniversary event being held on Thursday, 5 September. We are asking families with a multi-generational connection with the school who have children currently attending Liwara, to send in photos of each family member with their names (nee), and the years of attendance/employment at the school. It would be exciting if you could also send in a short blurb to add to the poster, so there is a bit of a 'story' attached. Please forward copies of your photos and family information to: 50@liwara.wa.edu.au
50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS:
We have had a wonderful response from the community with over 240 engraved bricks being purchased by community members. They will become part of the permanent symbol of gratitude – a legacy of our beautiful school. Thank you for your support for this initiative. We will begin working on the pathway in the next few weeks once we have received all the engraved bricks. Midland Brick have been extremely generous with donating two packs of contrasting pavers to compliment the design of our 50th Anniversary Pathway.

Therefore, next week we will be having some extra special food items at recess, along with all the usual favourites. So save your coins and come on over and see our great display and perhaps buy a tasty recess from the canteen.
