     Prayer for Children's Friendships

Lord, protect our children from negative influences that would lead them away from you. Surround them with friendships and mentor-type relationships that portray what it means to live a Christ-centered life. Allow godliness and righteousness to guide their thoughts and actions. May our children be friends that build others up, friends that influence their peers for good. Help our children to be a light in the dark world and to be encouraged by friends who will stand with them.

Amen

th Year Anniversary Celebration – “ 50 Years of tradition, 50 Years of Dedication, Your Dreams, Our Foundation!” on Thursday 5 September, starting at 9:30am in the Liwara School Hall using the link 50@liwara.wa.edu.au  - We look forward to celebrating with our past and present community!

FAMILY CONNECTIONS:
We are creating a 'Liwara Family Tree' display for the 50th Anniversary event being held on Thursday, 5 September.  We are asking families with a multi-generational connection with the school who have children currently attending Liwara, to send in photos of each family member with their names (nee), and the years of attendance/employment at the school.  It would be exciting if you could also send in a short blurb to add to the poster, so there is a bit of a 'story' attached.  Please forward copies of your photos and family information to:  50@liwara.wa.edu.au

50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS:
We have had a wonderful response from the community with over 240 engraved bricks being purchased by community members.  They will become part of the permanent symbol of gratitude – a legacy of our beautiful school.  Thank you for your support for this initiative.  We will begin working on the pathway in the next few weeks once we have received all the engraved bricks.  Midland Brick have been extremely generous with donating two packs of contrasting pavers to compliment the design of our 50th Anniversary Pathway.

CANTEEN NEWS

Next week is Book Week “Reading is Magic”, and every year the Canteen highlights a book that contains a food item.  Last year Wombat Stew and previously The Hungry Caterpillar and Piranhas.  Don’t Eat Bananas along with some other great books previous to that.     We think that our chosen theme this year everybody will know and love.

Therefore, next week we will be having some extra special food items at recess, along with all the usual favourites.    So save your coins and come on over and see our great display and perhaps buy a tasty recess from the canteen.

A big thank you to all of the many families that support the Liwara Canteen.  We hope you are enjoying a warm and tasty lunch.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This Sunday we will be continuing to explore our term theme, Life of Faith, by looking at how we can apply our Faith to our Hobbies. We will be hearing from our Youth Minister, Jesse, about his experiences and how we can practice this in our own lives.
