Prayer for Strength and Wisdom for Mothers

Lord God, we lift up all mothers to You.
Grant them the strength to face the daily challenges with courage and the wisdom to guide their children towards a life of faith and service.
Encourage them when they are weary and inspire them when they feel overwhelmed. Bless them with Your peace and love, now and forever

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Long Service Leave
Mrs Millar is currently enjoying her well deserved Long Service Leave, returning on Monday, 10 June. Unfortunately, Mrs Millar was sick just before her leave so was unable to inform the community beforehand. Miss Angela Leddin will be the Short Term Principal and Mrs Remy McGavigan will be acting Assistant Principal, alongside Mrs Jesseca Francis, during this time. We wish Mrs Millar a safe and relaxing holiday.

Mother’s Day
We have been blessed with many wonderful community members and it was very special to see our Liwara Mothers gather last Thursday to celebrate Mother’s Day. We had a lovely prayer service and it was wonderful to see all the different year levels read a Prayer of the Faithful, with their buddy to help the students in the younger years. This was then followed by a delicious morning tea. Our Year 6 Ministry continued to shine by helping to serve and pack away. Thank you to all the staff who were available to set up, serve and pack away. Many hands truly do make light work!

Sacrament of Communion
Our Year 4 students and teachers are busily preparing to receive this special sacrament. We ask families to assist on their child’s sacramental journey by attending the Communion Commitment Masses this weekend and to also attend the Parent/Child Workshop on Thursday, 23 May in the Liwara Hall at 6.00pm.

City of Joondalup footpath installation
Please refer to the letter from the City of Joondalup sent out via Seesaw regarding the installation of a footpath on Liwara Place. This may impact parent access to the oval carpark.

National Simultaneous Storytime
Be on the lookout for some special hints around the school regarding the National Simultaneous Storytime book for 2024! The aim of National Simultaneous Storytime is to encourage millions of children throughout Australia and the world to read together. Please see Seesaw notification from Mrs Clark regarding this special reading event.

P & F Meeting
Our next P & F Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 28 May at 7.00pm in the Liwara Hall.  Please join us and if you are able to assist with planning the 2024 Liwara Fair they would love to hear from you.  Please see below flyer.

KINDY NEWS

In Religious Education this term Kindy are exploring the topics; ocean and rain

To start the term, we have been talking about the wonders of rain.

In Kindy Green we have created some wonderful rain inspired artwork followed by questions about what the children wonder about rain.

In Kindy Red we have explored rain clouds in a jar and observed rain coming through clouds. We have also been enjoying sensory experiences with water and a variety of objects.

Both classes will be learning about the bible story Noah’s Ark in the coming weeks, we can’t wait to share this story with the children.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

YOUTH GROUP REPORT
Last weekend at 24:7 Greenwood we had an amazing night of games and fun as well as a super awesome talk. We started our night with some card games and free time before moving into our games before settling down to listen to our talk for the night.

We heard from one of our newest volunteer leaders, Ezra, who explored the topic, ‘Is Jesus Really Present in the Eucharist?’ and about his own experiences with this before we broke off into smaller groups to explore this idea even more.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Next week we will be continuing to explore our term theme, Defenders of the Faith, by looking at the importance of reading the Bible. We will be having another amazing speaker to join us as well as some awesome games planned.
