     PRAYER for LENT

God of abundance, we are so grateful for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us. Help us to be generous toward those who are less fortunate in any area of life. Help us also to remember that with or without material wealth, with You we are rich in faith, hope, and love – and in the end that is what matters most. Loving Father, heal the wounds that alienate our hearts from You, from believing, and from others so that we may reach out to our brethren and see them in You and You in them. It is in Your good and holy Name we pray.

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

I hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with the spirit of happiness and peace as we come to the end of our Wellbeing Week!  As we embark on the month of March, we have some exciting events and updates to share with you.

Congratulations to our Certificate Recipients

At our first assembly for the year students were recognised for their achievements and efforts and presented with their new 50th Anniversary themed certificate.  It was lovely to have so many parents, caregivers and grandparents present to acknowledge the students who were awarded a certificate.

Family Mass - Term 1

I extend our warmest gratitude to all families who made our first Family Mass an overwhelming success! Your presence truly added warmth and joy to the gathering, making it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.  The choir led the congregation with enthusiasm and vigour and were duly applauded by those present, not just once, but twice!  I sincerely appreciate the efforts of those who coordinated and contributed to the Mass as your dedication and enthusiasm played a significant role in creating an enjoyable and welcoming environment for out parish and school community

Welcome to our Newest Member of Staff

I would like to warmly welcome Mrs Fiona Kranz to our front office Admin Team. She will be working on Fridays alongside Mrs Anne Stent & Mrs Lucy Heke.  Fiona also works at Irene McCormack Catholic College two days a week and she began with us at Liwara last Friday.

50th Anniversary Dates and Events

The table below lists the events we will be focussing on this year as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations.  Plenty of work is already going on in the background and after meeting with the P&F and School Advisory Council in the last couple of weeks they are fully engaged and supportive of the events.  Please add all the events to your calendar and keep the entry updated as more detailed information will be sent out as the year progresses.

Carpark Courtesy

As we continue to work together to create a positive and harmonious environment, I’d like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of carpark safety and courtesy.  Here are a few friendly reminders to ensure a smooth and respectful experience for all:

  1. Mindful Parking: Please park within designated car parks and parking spaces.
  2. Admin Carpark No 2: This carpark is not to be used as a dropping off or picking up point as this is a staff only designated car park. We have instrumental tutors, relief staff and OSHC staff arriving for work before and after school, unable to find a designated bay which can impact on our students’ learning and care if they can’t park in the designated staff carpark .
  3. Safe Picking Up & Dropping Off: Picking up and dropping off of students must be done via the three options below –
    -  The bottom carpark / drive through - Gate #3 supervised after school
    -  The top drive through - Gate #6 supervised after school
    -  The oval carpark - Gate #12 supervised after school
If you have someone new doing either the dropping off or picking up of your child could you please inform them of which carparks they have access to.
  4. Respect Reserved Spaces: Be mindful of reserved parking spaces for individuals with special needs, staff members, or other designated roles. These spaces are crucial for those who require them.
  5. Speed Limits: When driving within the parking area, observe the posted speed limits. This helps maintain a safe environment for our students and other drivers.
  6. Avoid Blocking Traffic: If waiting for a parking spot or dropping off/picking up children, do so without blocking the flow of traffic.  This helps maintain a smooth and efficient traffic flow.
  7. Gate #4: This gate is not for the use of students before and after school as the carpark is a busy one and the children’s safety can be compromised.  Students should only be using Gates #1 & #3 to enter the school in the morning and supervised gates, #3, #6 & #12 to be picked up. Our ELC parents and caregivers use gates #1 & #13 to enter the grounds to drop and collect their children from the Kindy & PP classrooms.

As I conclude my message I  look forward to the upcoming months where together we continue to foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness. Remember, each member of our school community plays a vital role in shaping the future of our students.  Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.

2024 MEDICAL ACTION PLANS

Thank you to all the families that have returned their 2024 Medical Action Plans.  A reminder that all medications used within the school grounds need to be checked at the front office and recorded.

If you are unsure of your requirements, please contact the front office on 6224 2000

CANTEEN NEWS

We would like to give a big thank you to Mrs Millar who has been sending in some terrific watermelons from her garden, they are huge and very juicy.  We have put them to good use selling slices over the counter at recess and lunch and of course we use them to make our very yummy frozen watermelon cubes.

If you receive an IOU note sent home, sometimes for a forgotten online order or lunch at home, a misplaced lunch box and even a sneaky crow or two enjoying the spoils they find, these can be paid at the Canteen, at the office or a Quickcliqs on-line order for another day. Please mark these with “This is paying for an IOU, please do not provide”, in the comments section.

Just a reminder that we cannot change any ingredients in our sushi or focaccia orders, as they are pre-made for us.  We hope that you love the fresh meals that we make and provide, without all the additives that are often added to purchased items.

Thank you for supporting our Liwara Canteen.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

YOUTH GROUP REPORT
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood we had an awesome night of fun, games and fellowship. We started our night with board and card games inside as well as soccer down on the oval before moving inside to start our first game, Bum Shuffle. After plenty of seat switching and stealing, we moved into our second game for the night, Mafia, which was so intense it ended in a draw between mafia and civilians.

Our talk for the night was from our very own Youth Minister Jesse, who shared with us about Infinite Love and how we can find this in the Trinity.  It was extremely inspiring and encouraging for all of us there!

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Next week we will be having a guest speaker join us to help us continue exploring our term theme as we look at Heaven, Hell & Purgatory.

God bless,
Jesse and Lucy
