A Prayer for All Saints Day

Bless the many departed souls who lived their lives with grace.
Bless the saints in heaven, gathered in that special place.

May we tell their stories and remember all the ways they lived their faith
and spent their days.

There is glory and reward, even if at first there’s strife.
Oh, blessed saints, you help us see a path that’s to eternal life.

May we always hold them dear and know their life and place.
May we know their inspiration and aspire to their grace.

Amen.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Liwara Families

It is hard to believe we are heading towards Week 4 already – how time flies!  With the term quickly progressing, there is a mix of excitement and reflection for teachers, students and parents as there is still so much to get through, yet also so many memorable experiences still to be shared.  These last few weeks of term are always such a special time, filled with learning, celebration and the excitement of what’s to come.

Family Mass – Sunday, 27 October

We warmly invite all families to join us for our Family Mass on Sunday, 27 October at 9:30am at the All Saints Parish Church.  This special celebration offers an opportunity for our school community to come together in faith, prayer, and fellowship.

It will be a wonderful chance to reflect, give thanks, and celebrate the strength and unity of our school families. We encourage everyone to attend and make this a memorable occasion.   We look forward to seeing you there!

Year 6 Orientation

Our Year 6 students have been excited and perhaps a bit nervous attending their high school orientations this week and in the following weeks! It's a great opportunity for them to get familiar with their new environment in readiness for the 2025 school year, as transitioning to high school is such an exciting milestone. Best of luck to all the students in their new journeys!

Interschool Athletics Carnival Success!

We are thrilled to share the outstanding results from the recent Interschool Athletics Carnival! Our students displayed incredible talent, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the competition, making our school proud with their efforts and achievements and coming home victorious!

From sprint races to long-distance events, to the field events of shot put, turbo ‘jav’ and long jump, Our athletes gave their best and achieved remarkable results. A special congratulations to our students who brought home medals and personal bests in various events!

We would also like to acknowledge the dedication of Mr Sanders, teachers, and parent volunteers who supported the team. Without your hard work, this success would not have been possible.

Thank you to everyone who cheered on our team—your encouragement made a huge difference. Let’s continue to support our young athletes as they strive for even greater heights in future competitions!

CLASSROOM NEWS

YEAR 6 MINISTRY NEWS (Term 4)

This term is a very busy term for our Year 6 Ministries! Here is a sneak peek into some of the projects our Year 6 students are working on this term.

Publicity Ministry: This term in Publicity, we are focusing on the Big Ideas box in the library. We have been encouraging everyone to write down any ideas they have that could improve the school, which we will then present to Mrs Millar for consideration in future planning.

Special Events Ministry: In Special Events, we are doing a " Healthy Meal" challenge. This will take place in Week 5 during Wellbeing Week, to see how many families can make a delicious, homemade healthy meal to celebrate eating healthy without getting a prize. Once you have made the healthy meal, we ask that you take a picture of it and send the picture to Mrs McCabe. Your photo will be put in the breezeway on display to promote eating healthy.

Environmental Ministry: This term we are making sure people are reducing the amount of plastic they use. To promote this, we have started a “No Wrapper Wednesday”, with the aim of kids not bringing plastic in their lunchboxes. This will make the environment a better place, with less rubbish. We are also making sure that people bring their crunch and sip for the Crunch and Sip raffle. The idea is, if you bring your crunch and sip, you'll get a raffle ticket that enters the draw to win some cool prizes.

Sports Ministry: In Sport Ministry this term, we have dedicated our time to fill your sport bins and make sure you enjoy your recess and lunch sport. For your last term of 2024, we are also working hard to think up some brand-new ideas and activities to add to your sport lessons.

Social Justice: In Social Justice our main focus this term is collecting ring pulls and plastic bread tags. Each Friday we go around and collect ring pulls and plastic bread tags from each class, which then get donated to the Wheelchairs For Kids.

Update from the Environment Ministry

Did you know plastic has only existed for 116 years and it’s already a huge problem? Only 14% of plastic is recycled. We are trying to make a massive difference here at Liwara. So, what could you do? You can support Liwara’s Wrapper Free Wednesday! Pack your children a healthy lunch without wrappers on Wednesdays. Let’s make a difference together!

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

YOUTH GROUP REPORT

Last week at 24:7 Greenwood we had an awesome night of games, fun and music. We started our night with card games, dodgeball before moving into our first official game of the night. We followed this with another two games before the talk for the evening.

We also continued our term theme, Testimonies and were lucky enough to be joined by the wonderful Naomi as she shared about her faith and life journey with us.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This coming week, we will be continuing our term and will be joined by the amazing Eilidh join us to share with us about her journey with faith and life. So far this term we have had multiple young people mention to us about being able to take something away from the testimonies we’ve heard so far so hopefully this can continue.
