Prayer for the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop

God, through the intercession of Mary MacKillop,
we pray that the fire of your compassion will ignite many hearts.
May Mary’s attentiveness to your dream inspire us.
May her energy to overcome injustice empower us.
May we, like her, make manifest your Presence in our troubled world.
We pray that the beacon of her holiness shine
as a blessing for the universal Church and our world.
We make this prayer in Jesus’ name.

Amen

50TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

FAMILY CONNECTIONS

We are creating a 'Liwara Family Tree' display for the 50th Anniversary event being held on Thursday, 5 September.  We are asking families with a multi-generational connection with the school who have children currently attending Liwara, to send in photos of each family member with their names (nee), and the years of attendance/employment at the school.  It would exciting if you could also send in a short blurb to add to the poster, so there is a bit of a 'story' attached.  Please forward copies of your photos and family information to:  50@liwara.wa.edu.au

An example of our display idea is pictured below:

50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS

We invite all current families as well as past families, staff and community members to purchase a brick in this significant year, to be a part of the permanent symbol of gratitude - a legacy of our beautiful school. Our hardworking P&F are coordinating this project and working with a wholly owned and operated Australian company who prepared the online portal for ordering the 50th Anniversary commemorative bricksFamilies can order multiple bricks - you are not limited to just one! Please share this news with past Liwara School Community members, by sharing the information from our Facebook post or flyer attached to this newsletter under P & F News.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

YOUTH GROUP REPORT

Last week at 24:7 Greenwood we had a smaller night but that didn’t stop us from having an awesome time. We started our night with fellowship time before moving into a whole host of different card games. We also had and introduction to our new term theme, Life of Faith, as we heard from Lucy about how important it is to balance all the different areas of our lives and how we will be exploring this throughout the term. She used the Solar System as an example of how important it is for things to be balanced. This will be something we will continue to reference throughout the term.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This week we will be starting to really break open our term theme, Life of Faith, by having our first talk. Looking at our friendships and how we can apply faith to this area of our lives. We also have a super awesome guest speaker lined up to share their experiences and wisdom with the young people too.
