FAITH TRUST RESPECT MERCY
Our Leadership Team
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Staff and Students,
Congratulations to our Liwara Primary Choir who received an award of Excellence for their performance at the recent Performing Arts Sacred Choral section. Mrs Plint was so proud as they took to the stage and enthusiastically participated and sang with gusto and melodic unison. A special vote of thanks goes out to Mr John Fernandez who accompanied the choir on his guitar to make the performance even more special.
Book Week We celebrated Book Week last Tuesday with our annual parade and the teachers once again got into the spirit of the celebration by performing their interpretation of the book “All Afloat on Noah’s Boat” by Tony Mitton & Guy Parker-Rees. Great fun was had by all and once again the children looked amazing in their costumes. Our canteen was decked out to celebrate the special week and the children enjoyed some delightful ‘dinosaur foods’ prepared by Deb & Cath.
Music Performance We were entertained last Friday by a group of our students at our special music performance. All the children are part of the group of over 80 students who are involved in the Instrumental and Choral Program that is offered to our Year 3 – 6 students each year, coordinated by Mrs Mary Rose. It was such a pleasure to sit and enjoy the varied talents on show and the audience were truly appreciative. If you would like to know more about the program contact the front office for more details.
Uniform Shop News: The Uniform Shop have finally got our faction polo tops on the shelves with the school logo on the front. This will take our uniform to the next level of looking smart and consistent with colour and fabric as all students are eventually kitted out to wear the school sports top with the logo, as they outgrow their current faction shirt.
Father’s Day Breakfast. We have been busy preparing to honour fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society by inviting our dads, grandfathers and significant father figures to our annual Father’s Day Breakfast. The staff cooked up our famous Liwara sausage & egg in a bun breakky treat once again. Staff arrived at school a couple of hours earlier than usual to set up and begin cooking for our 480 + attendees! Another wonderfully supported event by our community. It was great seeing so many of our dads and grandfathers present.
The People of Afghanistan
As we celebrate the many freedoms we enjoy it is timely that we remember and pray for the people of Afghanistan and for peace in their country.
A Prayer for the People of Afghanistan
All-loving God, Your hands have fashioned every lovely corner of this treasured planet, and the beautiful land of Afghanistan is as precious as every other place Your children call ‘home'. By its rivers and mountains, its fields and gardens, its busy towns and ancient villages, it is the heart's desire of its people and the place where their lives and loves are nurtured.
We grieve today with those who grieve over Afghanistan, the people who call it home indeed, the people exiled or suddenly having to leave, and the men and women from other countries who have made sacrifices in recent years in the cause of that country's future.
We remember with renewed sadness the loss of lives of military personnel during the years of this country's involvement in Afghanistan, conscious of the questions that must today be troubling the minds of those in our community who were bereaved, those who were wounded on operations, and those who were forever changed by experiences suffered there.
We pray for peace, dignity, freedom and confidence for the men, women and children of Afghanistan; for courage, vision and generosity within the international community responding to such need; and for tranquillity of mind amongst our own Service community and its wider family. In the name of Jesus Christ, the peace-giver, we pray, AMEN

Our Classroom news
Year 6 - Preparing for Confirmation
Written by The Publicity Ministry: In the last few weeks, we have been heavily preparing for everything to do with our Confirmation. It has been interesting, and fun to learn about what will be happening in the next few weeks. We have written an Information Report about the Saint we have chosen to guide us through Confirmation. We have also had our Confirmation workshops where we and our parents found out more about the Mass, the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit and what will happen when we receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Also coming up, we have our retreat. This is going to be run by the youth group workers, Max and Georgia. We are looking forward to becoming one step closer to God through Confirmation.
Kind Regards,
The Publicity Ministry.

Book Week - 2021
The Book Week Parade was held on Tuesday 24 August amid much excitement!
Many thanks to Mrs Andrea Rattray who guided and kept the parade moving. Thanks also go to Mrs Andrea Millar who was the narrator for the teachers' performance of the book ‘All Afloat on Noah’s Boat’ by Tony Mitton & Guy Parker-Rees. The staff were dressed in black but then surprised the audience by donning animal masks as they joined Noah (Andrea Shilkin) and Mrs Noah (Gaye Margetic) on the stage. Their animal antics were thoroughly enjoyed by the children, parents and grandparents who attended.

The children enjoyed these delightful 'dinosaur foods' during this very special week.
