     PRAYER FOR PEACE

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are the true King of peace.
In You alone is found freedom.

Please free our world from conflict.
Bring unity to troubled nations.
Let Your glorious peace reign in every heart.

Dispel all darkness and evil.
Protect the dignity of every human life.
Replace hatred with Your love.

Give wisdom to world leaders.
Free them from selfish ambition.
Eliminate all violence and war.

Glorious Virgin Mary,
Saint Michael the Archangel,
Every angel and saint:
Please pray for peace.
Pray for unity amongst nations.
Pray for unity amongst all people.
Pray for the most vulnerable.
Pray for those suffering.
Pray for the fearful.
Pray for those most in need.
Pray for us all.

Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on us.
Jesus, hear our prayers.
Jesus, I trust in You!

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

We hope this newsletter finds you well.  It’s been another engaging week at Liwara, filled with exciting activities and valuable learning experiences.

We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming Family Mass celebration, on Sunday 5 May at 9:30am at our All Saint’s Parish Church. The Mass is a wonderful chance for our school community to come together in worship and fellowship as it’s a time to strengthen our bonds and celebrate our shared faith.  Our school choir will lead us once again in uplifting hymns and members of our school community will have the opportunity to participate in various ways. We look forward to seeing you and your family at this special celebration.  Let’s come together in gratitude and joy as we celebrate our faith and community.

We are preparing a special Mother’s Day Prayer Service on Thursday 9 May in the Liwara Hall, where students will assemble to dedicate the service to mothers and we invite all mothers and caregivers to attend this heartwarming event.  Please join us in celebrating the amazing women in our lives!  We look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day with our school community and honouring all the wonderful mothers and caregivers who play such important roles in our children’s lives.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we encourage families to take time on Mother’s Day to celebrate at home.  Whether it’s a special breakfast, a family outing, or simply spending quality time together, Mother’s Day is a chance to appreciate the love and support that mothers provide each day.

Our wonderful P&F have been busy planning their Mother’s Day celebration with enormous energy and support flowing from our community, as they have had to release more tickets for the occasion!  A huge thank you to the organising committee who have spent countless hours in planning the event.

Our students have been busy rehearsing at dance lessons each Monday and the energy and enthusiasm of everyone involved is great to witness.  I anticipate the hall will be overflowing with family members to witness the Dance Showcase on Monday 24 June.

Thank you for your continued support in making Liwara Catholic Primary School a thriving educational community.

NATIONAL WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY - FRIDAY, 10 MAY

Liwara Catholic Primary School are joining in for National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday, May 10. Now in its 25th year, WSTSD is an annual campaign and event which encourages all primary school children, their parents and carers, to walk safely and regularly to school. It is important for children and young people to be active every day. Physical activity has many social, emotional, physical and mental health benefits. Walking to school is a great way to incorporate physical activity into a daily routine to support healthy development. Regular physical activity, especially walking, can improve self-esteem and confidence, help concentration and improve overall fitness. Encouraging kids to be active each day establishes good habits that can stay with them throughout their lives.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

YOUTH GROUP REPORT
On Sunday at 24:7 Greenwood we had an amazing night full of games and fun. We started our night with some fellowship time before moving into our game for the night. After a few rounds of the game Mafia, we moved into our talk for the night given by 24:7 Nedlands youth minister Michaela. The talk was titled "Jesus: Legend, Liar, Lunatic or Lord?", she explored the reasons to believe if Jesus was who he said he was.

We followed the talk with an activity where everyone had to go to different leaders around the room and explain why Jesus either was or wasn't a Legend, Liar, Lunatic or Lord.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Next youth group on the 4th of May we will be having an exploration of Eucharistic Adoration. We will be opening up the idea of Jesus being present in the Eucharist and what that means for us. We also have the Youth Mission Team joining us!

SPECIAL EVENTS
On the 11th of May we will be celebrating 24:7 Youth Ministry’s 21st year of youth ministry with our Fundraising Quiz Night! The flyer attached has all the details, with tickets on sale for only $10 each!
