Prayer of St Francis
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness only light,
And where there’s sadness ever joy.
Oh Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
In giving of ourselves that we receive,
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life
Amen.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Liwara Families
Staffing Updates
As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to announce a few staffing changes. We bid farewell to Mr John Dols who has been on leave for the last two years and has made the decision to move away from education to new opportunities. We are immensely grateful for his years of service, dedication and contributions to our Liwara school community, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours.
Mrs Beth Keegan, who has been on parental leave for the last three years, has had a second child and has made the decision to leave the Liwara community to focus on her family and pursue her teaching career much closer to home. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Keegan, whose whimsical and engaging personality inspired and enthused our students over many years. Her passion for music and creative teaching style has left a lasting impact, sparking a love for music in our students that will stay with them for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and the joy she brought to our school community.
Additionally, I would like to extend our heartfelt thank you and farewell to our wonderful Assistant Principal, Mrs Jesseca Francis, who has been at Liwara for the past two years. An unexpected opportunity presented itself at Mater Christie Catholic Primary School in Yangebup, and Mrs Francis was the successful candidate. She will take up the position in 2025, with the move reducing her daily travel time from two and a half hours each day to under twenty minutes! Her dedication, humour, professionalism and the joy she brought to our school community will leave an indelible mark. She will be truly missed by students, staff and families alike and we wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter. We are currently in the process of employing a new Assistant Principal and I will inform the school community as soon as the appointment has been finalised.
Annual Community Meeting
Please note that our Annual Community Meeting (ACM), which incorporates the School Advisory Council AGM and P&F AGM, has been rescheduled and will be held in the new year. Due to the incredibly busy year incorporating the many 50th Anniversary events and celebrations and even more importantly the busyness leading up to the School Fair, it will now take place at the beginning of the 2025 school year. I am working with the current School Advisory Council and staff to 're-imagine' this important community event. We will keep you informed of the new date and format, to add to your calendars before the end of the 2024 school year.
This is a valuable opportunity for parents, carers, and community members to discuss school achievements, goals, and plans for the coming year. We encourage everyone to attend, as your feedback and support play a crucial role in our school’s success. Thank you for your ongoing involvement and commitment to our school community.
School Fair Success!
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our P&F Fair Committee who have worked tirelessly to make this event a huge success and to all our families for your unwavering support for the organising committee leading up to the Annual School Fair! Your contributions, enthusiasm and presence around the school, whether through volunteering, cooking, crafty creations, collecting of plants, books, soft toys, chocolates, items for the Mystery Mania and so much more is an amazing feat. It is such a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community! Your support means the world to us and we are incredibly grateful for the wonderful parents that make our school community so special. Thank you to everyone who will be attending and supporting our Annual School Fair! It will be a fantastic evening filled with games, delicious food, and memorable performances from our talented students. The fair not only brings our community together but also raises valuable funds for school programs and resources. We couldn’t do it without you!

CANTEEN NEWS
The focus this week for Wellbeing Week is the Healthy Meal Challenge for families.
We thought it would be an opportunity to promote our healthy meals also, made right here in the canteen at Liwara. We are proud that we can offer our students and staff the fresh and tasty options that we currently make. Our meals are made from fresh ingredients with the added bonus of lots of hidden vegetables minus the additives. Monday’s options include, butter chicken, spaghetti bolognaise, macaroni cheese and a very popular beef or chicken burger with salad. Tuesdays and Thursdays include our very tasty Beef Pie and Warm Chicken & salad wraps. All a great option for a healthy meal at lunch.
Enjoy cooking and making your healthy meals together this week. We look forward to seeing all of your photos on display.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS
YOUTH GROUP REPORT
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood we had an awesome night of faith, fun and games. We had our Youth Volunteer Mass during the 5:30pm Mass before Youth Group, it was such a blessing to have so many leaders and youth there helping out with various roles. We started our night with cricket on the oval and card games inside before moving into our first few games.
On the night we continued with our term theme of Testimonies and this week, we heard from one of our Volunteer Leaders, Nathan. He shared with us about his journey to being where he is today and how he found strength in God in the difficult periods of his life.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
This week we will be continuing our theme of Testimonies, as we hear from our Youth Minister, Jesse, about his journey with God and faith as well as all the trials, challenges and joy that have been apart of this journey.
God bless,
Jesse and Lucy
